What personal information Tranqlara.com collects (newsletter signups, contact messages, server logs), why, how long we keep it and how to have it removed.

Last updated 17 October 2026.

Who we are

Tranqlara.com is an independent fan and editorial archive run by the Tranqlara.com editors. You can reach us through the contact page, which is the right place for any question or request about your data. The site runs on a server we rent from Hostinger in the European Union (Germany); we run the web server, the contact form and the newsletter ourselves on that server.

The short version

We collect as little as we can. We do not use cookies on the public site, advertising trackers or social-media pixels. We count visits with a small, self-hosted, cookie-free tool (GoatCounter, see below). We do not sell data and we do not share your email address with anyone for marketing.

What we collect, why, and for how long

WhatWhy (legal basis)How long
Newsletter signup: your email address, the exact consent wording you agreed to, the page you signed up on, the time, and a keyed one-way hash of your IP address. To send you The Tranqlara Welcome Series and to prove that you asked for it (your consent). If you never click the confirmation link, the address and the record are deleted after 7 days. After you confirm, we keep them while you are subscribed. They are deleted 12 months after you unsubscribe, or 12 months after the last email of the series.
Contact form: the name, email address and message you send, and a keyed one-way hash of your IP address. To read and answer you, and to correct our articles (our legitimate interest in running the site, and your request).Deleted automatically after 12 months. Earlier on request.
Visit statistics: the page you viewed, the page you came from, your browser and system type, screen size and country. Your IP address is used only to work out the country and a short-lived anonymous visit marker; it is not stored. No cookies are set.To see how many people read the site and which pages they use (our legitimate interest in running and improving the site).Kept as aggregated statistics while the site exists.
Server logs: the IP address, page, time and browser identification of each request.Security, abuse prevention and fixing errors (our legitimate interest).14 days, then deleted.
Bot check: when you use a form, your browser solves a small puzzle. We store only a keyed hash of your IP address to limit repeated submissions.Protecting the forms from abuse (our legitimate interest). The rate-limit record lasts one hour. The hash stored with a signup or message follows that record’s retention above.

The “keyed hash” is a one-way scramble made with a secret that stays on our server. We cannot turn it back into your IP address, and we never store the raw address with a signup or message.

The newsletter

The Welcome Series is sent by us using listmonk, open-source software running on our own server, through our own mail server. No third-party newsletter service receives your address. After you sign up we send one confirmation email (double opt-in). You are subscribed only once you click the link in it. Then you receive the five emails of the series. Every email has an unsubscribe link, and we do not track whether you open an email or click a link. When you unsubscribe, all emails stop at once.

Who else handles your data

  • Hostinger provides the server that stores everything described above.
  • Namecheap provides the domain name and DNS. It does not receive your form data or your emails.
  • GitHub stores the website’s source text and builds the site. It never receives data from visitors, forms or the newsletter.
  • Links to other sites lead to services with their own privacy practices.

We do not transfer your form or newsletter data to any third party outside the server described above.

Statistics

Visits are counted by GoatCounter, open-source software running on our own server at stats.tranqlara.com. It sets no cookies, does not follow you across sites and sends nothing to a third party. Besides page views it counts a few anonymous actions: clicks on links to other websites (the destination only), opening a spoiler warning, starting or sending the newsletter form (never the address), how far down an article a visit scrolls (25, 50, 75 or 100 percent), and the words typed into the site search (up to 60 characters, and whether anything was found). None of this identifies you.

Messages from the contact form

When you send a message, the server also emails a copy of it to our own mailbox so we notice it. That email stays on our mail server.

Your rights

Under the EU General Data Protection Regulation and similar laws, you may ask us to show you the data we hold about you, correct it, delete it, restrict how we use it, give you a copy, or stop using it for our legitimate interests. You may withdraw your newsletter consent at any time with the unsubscribe link, without giving a reason. Use the contact page for any of this. We reply within one month. If you think we handle your data unlawfully, you may complain to the data protection authority in your country.

Children

The site and the newsletter are not aimed at children, and we do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 16.

Cookies

The public site sets no cookies. A sign-in cookie exists only on the private administration area used by the editors.

Changes

If our practices change, we update this page and its date before the change takes effect.
